Bryan Bagunas scores 16 but Oita Miyoshi falls to JTEKT in V.LEAGUE

AICHI, JAPAN — Bryan Bagunas once again topscored for struggling Oita Miyoshi, falling to JTEKT in straight sets, 21-25, 14-25, 22-25, in the Japan V. League Division 1 Men’s Tournament, Saturday at the Kariya City General Athletic Park Gymnasium.

The Filipino import tallied 16 points, including four backrow attacks for the Weisse Adler. That could not stop their drought, though, dropping to a 0-7 win-loss card at the bottom of the standings — tied with VC Nagano.

Australian opposite hitter Curtis Stockton backstopped Bagunas with 15 points of his own in the loss.

Oita Miyoshi shot itself on the foot, committing 31 errors, while the Stings only had 12.

Ryosuke Hakamaya led the charge for JTEKT with 19 points on 17 attacks and two blocks.

Meanwhile, the Stings remain on a three-way logjam for third place with HT Thunders Hiroshima and Wolfdogs Nagoya at 5-2.

Oita Miyosha looks for its first win tomorrow with another matchup against JTEKT at 2:00 pm at the same venue.
