BRT Sumisip Basilan-St. Clare deal Hyperwash 57-point spin cycle

BRT Sumisip Basilan-St. Clare continued to impress in the 2019 PBA D-League Second Conference, clobbering Hyperwash by 57 points, 129-72, Thursday at Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig.

Malian slotman Mohammed Pare had 25 points, six rebounds, and three assists to set the pace for the Saints.

Jhaps Bautista supplied 23 points, as Cris Dumapig and Ray Rubio chimed in 15 and 11 markers, respectively, in the blowout victory that saw all but one of the 15 BRT Sumisip-St. Clare players score at least two points.

“Hindi naman sa inaano ko yung kalaban pero hindi kami na-push to the limit. Kita niyo naman puro open court game eh kaya hindi ko pa rin talaga ma-test kung hanggang saan yung tibay ng team as far as dun sa system na gusto ko i-apply,” said coach Stevenson Tiu.

The game was never in doubt right from the get-go as the Saints jumped to an 18-5 lead at the beginning. BRT Sumisip-St. Clare would have 72 points already after the match’s first two quarters before cruising to the comfortable 57-point winning spread.

It shot 62-percent from the field, including an uber-efficient 40-percent mark from deep, while also dishing out 42 assists in the affair.

The win improved the Saints’ win-loss card to 2-0, gaining a share of leadership in Group A with Technological Institute of the Philippines, whom they will be facing on Monday, August 5.

“Doon mate-test talaga kami kasi parehong batang teams eh,” said Tiu of their looming clash with TIP.

Khasim Mirza had 21 points and six rebounds to lead Hyperwash, who dropped to 0-2.
