The Colegio de San Juan de Letran did not look further to find its new main tactician.
Sources closely monitoring the situation have confirmed to Tiebreaker Times that former Lyceum Pirates head coach and current NorthPort Batang Pier team manager Bonnie Tan will take over for the Knights in the upcoming NCAA Season 95 Seniors Basketball Tournament.
Tan is taking over from Napa, who he tapped as part of NorthPort’s coaching staff even before he was not re-signed by Letran after three years.
For his part, Tan was the team manager of Letran as well back in Season 94, together with Waiyip Chung.
The search committee of Letran, led by Fr. Stephen Besa, OP and special assistant for sports affairs Alfrancis Chua deemed that it was time for Tan to return to the coaching ranks after a four-year hiatus. Tan previously coached Lyceum for 11 years, only stepping down back in 2014.
Tan tried to tap Napa as team consultant, but a source disclosed that the latter politely declined, citing differences with Letran’s administration. Napa is currently in talks for a return to the National University Bulldogs.
