Blackwater to decide on Nash Racela’s fate next week

Will Nash Racela return to Blackwater?

Blackwater’s brass will make that decision in the coming days, according to team owner Dioceldo Sy.

“We will decide next week,” said the president of Ever Bilena Cosmetics, Inc.

According to multiple sources closely monitoring the situation, Racela’s contract with Blackwater ends this season.

However, Blackwater has the option to extend it for one more conference if the Philippine Basketball Association decides to have a second one this season.

Blackwater ended its 2021 Honda PBA Philippine Cup campaign with an 0-11 record. It also suffered a league-record 19 straight losses that stretches back to October 20, 2020.

Racela made his return to the big league back in November of 2019, replacing Aris Dimaunahan.

The UAAP champion coach compiled a 2-19 record with Blackwater – a team that was on a rebuild after trading away its stars for three straight years, including Poy Erram, Allen Maliksi, Mac Belo, and Don Trollano.

Also set to be reviewed by the Blackwater management is the composition of the team.
