Blackwater is finally joining the PBA 3×3 tournament.
Owner Dioceldo Sy confirmed that the Bossing are set to see action beginning in the Third Conference, which is targeted to open on May 21.
The nitty-gritty of its participation, from which banner will it be carrying all the way down to the team’s composition, has yet to be determined.
“We will join, but no details yet,” the billionaire businessman wrote in a short text message to Tiebreaker Times, Friday.
Blackwater initially begged off, citing the cost-cutting measures parent company Ever Bilena Cosmetics has undertaken in the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
But after two conferences, the ball club is now set to play in the PBA’s halfcourt hostilities, which could further broaden the competition.
Fifteen teams could slug it out in the Third Conference, with the Zamboanga Valientes expected to return following a one-conference hiatus.
It may even go to as big as 16 should Converge ICT Solutions, the league’s newest member, decides to participate in the 3×3 as well.
The Third Conference will see the PBA 3×3 play inside malls after staging the first two tourneys at the Ynares Sports Arena and SMART Araneta Coliseum.
Commissioner Willie Marcial said that the league has reached an agreement with Robinson Malls, and both parties are just ironing out details.
“Balak naming umikot,” said the amiable executive.
