Blackwater head coach Leo Isaac and the Elite were not wearing their usual white and red warmers on Friday evening when they faced the Barangay Ginebra San Miguel. Instead, they donned a purple shirt that had Hope for Lupus Run written on it.
Ever Bilena, the company behind Blackwater, has been supporting the cause to help Lupus patients. On Sunday, January 21, the cosmetics giant is hosting a fun run to support the advocacy.
The Elite are even making a sacrifice by playing two games in a span of three days to make way for the event.
“Talk ‘N Text kami Wednesday then Globalport on Friday. Wednesday at Friday,” said Isaac after Blackwater’s 94-77 win over Ginebra.
“Dapat Friday at Sunday yun pero dahil may event kami sa Sunday, pina-aprubahan naming ma-move yung games namin.”
Sophomore sensation Mac Belo shared that he was inspired all game long by the cause they are fighting for.
“Siyempre nandoon din sa jersey namin yung Hope for Lupus parang ni-rerepresent din namin yung may mga karamdaman na yun,” expressed Belo, who finished the game with 22 points, seven rebounds, and three steals. “Kahit sa konting paraan, nakakatulong kami.
“Itong panalo namin, hopefully, nabigyan namin sila ng magandang smile.”
The Gilas pool member is hoping that their fans will join the Elite for the fun run.
