Blacklist International falls to ONIC Esports in MPLI finals

Blacklist International fell short in the ONE Esports Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League Invitational after losing to reigning MPL Indonesia champion ONIC Esports, 1-3, in the grand finals on Sunday night.

The top Filipino squad had a dominant showing in the opening match before surrendering the next two matches to the Indonesian squad.

After securing the Luminous Lord, ONIC Esports completed a crucial five-man wipe of Blacklist International in hopes of ending Game Four.

That, however, was spoiled by Edward “Edward” Dapadap’s Paquito who managed to defend the base from SANZ (Natan) and Kiboy (Rafaela) at the 15:50-mark of the match.

With two key players from the Indonesian side down, Blacklist International went for a siege but was turned back by the remaining ONIC Esports members. The reigning MPL Indonesia winner then went for the kill moments later.

Danerie “Wise” Del Rosario led the MPL Philippines titlist with four kills, four deaths, and five assists on his Bane while Kiel “OHEB” Soriano’s Lunox had four kills, five deaths, and three assists.

The Tier One-backed team took out Bigetron Alpha in the quarterfinals before putting up a massive comeback against RRQ Hoshi in the semifinals.

Last year, Indonesian team Alter Ego won the tournament after sweeping eventual world champions Bren Esports in the finale.
