Bianca Pagdanganan finished a tumultuous day with a birdie to end with a 1-under in the second round of the LPGA Drive On Championship, Saturday (Manila time) at the Crown Colony Golf and Country Club in Fort Myers, Florida.
This result puts her at 3-under 141 to make her first-ever third round of the season after missing the cut a week ago in Boca Raton.
Pagdanganan encountered an early mishap in just her second hole after needing not just one, but two more strokes just to get to No. 2. She then first tasted going to 3-under when she registered back-to-back birdies on Nos. 4 and 5 and gained another shot on No. 7, before a bogey in No. 9 pushed her back to where she started at 2-under.
Another bogey on No, 14 tainted her run on the backside. Nonetheless, a gained shot on No. 12 and that closing birdie on No. 18 eventually kept the 24-year-old inside the top 40 and, more importantly, into the competition’s next round.
Elsewhere across the board, Ireland’s Leona Lewis climbed into a share of the lead with USA’s Marina Alex on 13-under 131, four strokes ahead of three golfers.
Pagdanganan will try to continue his uphill climb as she starts moving day on No. 1 at 9:37 a.m. (8:37 p.m.) on Saturday, February 5.
