To say that it was a tough day for Bianca Pagdanganan is an understatement.
The Ladies Professional Golf Association rookie could not get her bearings and ended up at tied-79th with 7-over 78 at the end of round one of the 2020 Volunteers of America Classic at the Old American Golf Club in The Colony, Texas, USA, Friday morning (Manila time).
Pagdanganan struggled at the start of the course, needing an extra hit at the first three holes before she finally got a reprieve in the fifth hole with a birdie.
A birdie in the ninth canceled a bogey in the eighth to see the 2019 Southeast Asian Games champion at a manageable 2-over 37 after the front nine.
Pagdanganan, however, hit a heavy roadblock that pushed her down the leaderboard. She had to take no. 10 with another extra shot before she required bogeys in the 13th and 15th.
A double bogey in the 14th characterized her hard-luck day.
England’s Charley Hull pace the pack after the 19-hole go-round with 3-under 68 despite having some hiccups of bogeys herself.
Pagdanganan attempts to rescue his stint as Round 2 continues on Saturday.
