Roosevelt Adams is now a free agent.
The third-year forward has decided to test the market as he opted not to exercise the option to stay with Terrafirma for a third season.
With this, the Dyip will lose another part of its core. Matt Ganuelas-Rosser has entered free agency earlier after declining a two-year extension.
Unlike Ganuelas-Rosser, Adams is a restricted free agent, meaning the Dyip can still match any offers for the Fil-American swingman if they want to.
“Si Adams din ganun din, free agent na rin,” head coach Johnedel Cardel told Tiebreaker Times, Thursday.
“They decided to become free agents.”
Adams, 27, was the first overall pick by Terrafirma in the regular round of the 2019 PBA Rookie Draft. He bannered a not-so-deep class.
The 6-foot-6 sharpshooter from the College of Idaho went on to sign a two-year rookie max contract, with an option for a third year.
But then, he has decided not to extend with the ball club anymore, meaning that he’s free to talk to other PBA teams looking to acquire his services.
Or possibly, talk to teams from abroad.
Tiebreaker Times has learned that Adams has been drawing interest from ball clubs overseas after seeing potential in his first two conferences.
Adams averaged 10.3 points and 8.1 rebounds in the 2020 Philippine Cup, good enough to be part of the All-Rookie Team at the season’s end.
He improved his scoring come the 2021 all-Filipino meet with 11.2 points on 37.8-percent shooting from deep, alongside 7.4 boards.
