Basic bids farewell to ONIC PH as he heads back to GOSU

ONIC PH announced sixth man Peter Bryce “Basic” Lozano’s departure from the team, Saturday evening.

Basic had an opportunity that was hard to refuse — a return to his former team GOSU.

“Babalik na sa US ang ating resident heartbreaker to participate in international tournaments with his former team.

“Maraming salamat sa tiyaga at streaming tips. Basic Gaming, your ONIC family wishes you the best,” the organization said in a Facebook post.

Basic gained notoriety when he led GOSU to a four-versus-five encounter against DDNEX in the North America qualifiers for the first edition of the MLBB World championships. GOSU, the lone NA representative, finished third in Group B with a 2-4 standing.

He then flew back to the country, where he formed GOSU Philippines and led them to the top of the MPL-Philippines Season Five qualifiers. ULVL, led by comedian and now streamer Rodfil “Roadfill” Macasero, acquired the GOSU-PH roster for the main draw.

The up-and-coming core player, however, had a falling out with the ULVL management which forced them to sit Basic out in the latter part of the season. ULVL was able to make it in the playoffs, but got eliminated as early as the first phase of the lower bracket.

ONIC PH signed Basic for the sixth season, where he played a couple of games in lieu of Danerie “Wise” Del Rosario. “Wise” is now with Blacklist International along with former ONIC PH team captain Johnmar “OhMyV33NUS” Villaluna through a trade that sent prodigy Kairi “FULLCLIP” Rayosdelsol to ONIC’s lair.

The two-time MPL-Philippines second placers also added amateur standout Marky “Markyyy” Capacio and former Execration star Jaylord “Hate” Gonzales to their roster to join holdovers Jay “Jay” Torculas, Christian “Iy4knu” Manaog, and Gerald “Dlar” Trinchera.
