Baser Amer feels immensely grateful to have received what he considers as a big blessing just days before the turn of the new year.
The 29-year-old on Thursday signed a one-year extension with Blackwater.
“Sobrang saya, sobrang blessed,” he told Tiebreaker Times. “Masaya ako na naka-sign ako sa Blackwater. Na-feel ko ‘yung tiwala nila sa akin.”
The Bossing have previously said that Amer is very much a part of its plans moving forward, and this development is definitely proof of that.
One of San Beda’s all-time greats has been with the ball club since February, after he and Bryan Faundo were traded by Meralco for Mac Belo.
Amer struggled in his first conference with his new team due to injuries but has actually been making up for it in the ongoing PBA Governors’ Cup.
The seventh overall pick in 2015 is averaging 8.8 points on 41.4-percent shooting from the field, 4.3 assists, and 1.8 rebounds.
He actually averaged 13.0 points in their first two games until a calf injury slowed him down, although he played through it in their last games of the year.
Amer is now treading the road to full recovery, although on top of his wishlist, really, is for Blackwater to finally end its 24-game losing skid.
“Sana next year, maka-sungkit na,” he hoped.
Amer was one of two players re-upped by the Bossing Thursday. The other was big man Barkley Eboña, who was given a two-year extension.
