Quezon took solo leadership after dumping Quezon District 4, 89-65, in the Chooks-to-Go NBL Chairman’s Cup 2021, Sunday night at the Bren Z. Guiao Convention Center in San Fernando, Pampanga.
Arjay Dongog continued his fine play, making 18 points, three rebounds, and three assists to lead the Barons atop the standings with a clean 3-0 record.
Quezon used a momentum-shifting second period, outscoring the SparTANs 28-17, to build a 17-point spread at the break, 50-33.
The Barons remained steady in the second half, just trading baskets with the District 4 en route to their third straight victory.
Alex Ramos was the spark of the Quezon bench with 12 points, 12 rebounds, four assists, two steals, and a block.
Topeng Lagrama did everything with 12 points, seven rebounds, four assists, and three steals. On the other hand, Domenick Vera also got 12 points of his own.
Khenth Guiab carried the SparTANs anew with 23 points and 10 rebounds. Jared Sevilla punched in 18 points and 13 rebounds but went a poor 6-of-16 from the field.
Meanwhile, John Roa led District 4’s second-stringers with 10 points and 11 rebounds as his squad fell to 0-3.
