Bagunas 24 not enough as Oita Miyoshi drops five-setter to Sakai in V.League


Bryan Bagunas was once again on target for Oita Miyoshi, Saturday at the Shinittetsu Sakai Gymnasium.

But Weisse Adler fell short against Sakai in five hard-fought sets, 15-25, 30-28, 21-25, 26-24, 13-15, in the 2020-21 Japan V.League Division 1 Men’s Division.

The Philippine national team standout led Weisse Adler with 24 points on 23 attacks and a block kill.

Australian Curtis Stockton also contributed 21 points in the losing cause.

Weisse Adler continued their slide in the standings, dropping to 0-13.

French opposite hitter Jhon Wendt and local Yuki Higuchi delivered 19 points each for Sakai.

Captain Naoya Takano also had 18 points on 13 spikes, four blocks and a service ace as the Blazers improved to 6-7.

Oita Miyoshi looks to get one back over Sakai tomorrow, 12 pm, at the same venue.
