Thirdy Ravena and San-En opened their new year on the wrong foot, absorbing a 71-103 whipping at the hands of Shibuya in the 2021-22 B.League season, Sunday at Kawasaki Todoroki Arena.
The NeoPhoenix had a lackadaisical second quarter. They only put up 10 points on 4-of-13 shooting, helping give the Brave Thunder a 50-34 lead.
Already behind 76-60 heading into the final frame, Kawasaki put the finishing touches on the struggling San-En. They then went on a 19-5 blast capped by a Jordan Heath trey with 4:06 remaining.
Kawasaki went up to 19-6 while dropping San-En to a 4-21 record – third worst in the league.
Nick Fazekas was at the forefront of Kawasaki’s attack, finishing with 20 points and nine rebounds.
Naoya Kumagae got 16 points built on four treys, while Heath had 14 points and 10 rebounds. Yuma Fujii and Satoru Maeda chipped in 13 and 12 points, respectively.
Matt Janning and Pablo Aguilar also delivered for Kawasaki with 11 points and 14 rebounds, respectively.
San-En was paced by Elias Harris with 20 points and seven rebounds. Meanwhile, Robert Carter added 18 points, five rebounds, and four assists.
Thirdy Ravena and Ryo Tawatari had 10 points each as well.
The two teams square off again tomorrow.
