Ibaraki once again kept pace with defending B.League champion Chiba but it was not enough, absorbing a 103-111 defeat, Sunday at Funabashi Arena.
Down by as much as 15 points, the Robots stormed back behind the duo of Marc Trasolini and Atsonobu Hirao, cutting the lead down to three, 100-97, with 2:46 left.
John Mooney though took over, scoring six straight points — highlighted by an and-one dunk over David Jacobsen.
Though Jacobsen and Trasolini tried to rally the Robots back, Shuta Hara nailed a dagger trey to lift the Jets to a 12-4 record.
Mooney had himself a perfect game, going 12-for-12 from the field for 27 points with 12 rebounds.
Yuki Togashi got 19 points and 12 assists while Gavin Edwards added 14 points on 4-of-5 shooting from the field and 6-of-6 from the charity stripe.
Trasolini’s 31 points went for naught as the Robots went down to 2-14 in the East. He went 6-of-7 from deep.
Hirao got 21 points while Kohei Fukuzawa added 15 points built on three treys.
Javi Gomez de Liano scored four points — all from the charity stripe — in 13 minutes played.
Ibaraki will host Shimane next weekend.
