Nothing seems to bring out the best in athletes than being in the darkest of situations.
Sports personalities continue to cast a ray of hope amid the coronavirus pandemic, coming together to assist the country in battling the crisis.
Through the initiative of the “May Twenty Ako” charity organization, countless athletes have auctioned off their jerseys to raise funds for the needs and necessities of the frontliners and the less fortunate.
Among a huge crop of benefactors, hardcourt stalwarts Juan and Javi Gomez de Liaño, Robert Bolick, Javee Mocon, Christiana Dimaunahan, Vic Manuel and volleyball athletes Sisi Rondina, Majoy Baron, Mark Alfafara, Melissa Gohing, Kath Arado, and Dawn Macandili, as well as soft tennis player Kevin Mamawal participated in the campaign.
The starting bid varies for each jersey, ranging from PHP 1,000 to 3,000. The deadline for bidding is on April 3 at 9 p.m.
Aside from this, Jia Morado and beau Miguel de Guzman have also launched Every Little Thing Counts, a fund-raising drive that aims to provide healthcare workers with personal protective equipment (PPE).
Morado herself has already put up one of her game-worn memorabilias for bidding. Ara Galang, Eya Laure, Imee Hernandez, Mika Reyes, and many others then followed suit.
