AJ Mandani, Singapore torch Mikey Williams, Saigon for share of fifth

After a dismal string of games, Filipino-Canadian AJ Mandani came alive in a pivotal of game for the Singapore Slingers, helping his team to a 94-76 rout of the Saigon Heat, Sunday evening at the OCBC Arena in Kallang, Singapore.

Mandani was on fire in the game, shooting a blistering 11-for-15 clip for 25 markers. He went 8-of-9 inside the arc while dropping three triples.

On the other hand, Filipino-American Mikey Williams finished with 15 points on 15 attempts to go along with five boards and two dimes. He had no relief in the game, playing all 40 mintues.

However, Williams and the rest of the Heat starters could not get any bench support once more as Saigon had zero bench points.

Behind the herculean effort of Chris Charles, Singapore had firm control of the game by the half. The Slinger would lead by as much as 20 points, 94-74, with seconds remaining in the contest.

Charles finished with 24 points and a whopping 29 rebounds to go along with seven assists and six blocks. Xavier Alexander added 17 points, 13 rebounds, and eight assists.

Akeem Scott paced Saigon with 23 points and nine rebounds while Maxie Esho had 20 points on 9-of-24 shooting.

Both squads are now tied for fifth with twin 9-7 slates.
