Abanse Negrense teams sweep Gatorade-PSL Beach Volley pools


Abanse Negrense completed their strong start Saturday, sweeping their last pool play assignments in the 2021 Gatorade-PSL Beach Volleyball Challenge Cup at the Subic Bay Tennis Court.

Abanse Negrense’s Team A of Alexa Polidario and Erjane Magdato whipped the listless Kennedy-Petro Gazz tandem of Ariane Alarcon and Cristina Canares, 21-4, 21-7, while Team B’s Jennifer Cosas and Gelimae Villanueva put up a masterful sweep of Toby’s Sports’ Jonah San Pedro and Javen Sabas, 21-11, 21-9.

With the win, Magdato and Polidario faces Toby’s Sports in the knockout quarters later in the day while Cosas and Villanueva takes on Kennedy-Petro Gazz.

“Masaya kami kasi both teams napakita yung meron yung negros as a team and individual players,” said Magdato.

“Sana ma-maintain namin yung laro namin tsaka yung mga mali namin macorrect namin sa dadating na laro,” added Polidario.

Both Sta. Lucia teams, on the other hand, gained the second seed in their respective groups after Team A’s DM Demontano and Jackie Estoquia blasted United Auctioneers’ Ella Viray and Theresa Ramas, 21-13, 21-14 while Team B’s Jonah Sabete and Bang Pineda pound F2 Logistics’ Jenny Senares and Kyla Gallego, 21-14, 21-13.

Pineda and Sabeta squares off against UAI followed by Demontano and Estoquia facing F2 Logistics in the other KO matches set for the day.
