The University of Santo Tomas Tiger Spikers overcame their wasteful play, closing out the College of Saint Benilde Blazers in three sets, 25-23, 26-24, 25-23, in the Premier Volleyball League Collegiate Conference at the FilOil Flying V Centre.
UST totalled 32 unforced errors to CSB’s 19. UST maintained a slight edge in each set thanks to clutch offense from their wingers.
“Errors have been a big problem for us ever since,” said UST head coach Odjie Mamon.
“We need to remedy these problems. Magandang exposure sa amin na we can win games like this na very close. Still, we’re looking to improve,” the UST lifer added.
Joshua Umandal led the Tiger Spikers with 16 points while Manuel Medina added 15.
UST (4-0) looks to keep their unbeaten streak going against the Adamson Soaring Falcons (4-0) on Saturday at the same venue.
Transferee Vince Abrot topped the Blazers with nine markers while captain Francis Basilan added eight.
CSB (1-2) takes on the Arellano Chiefs (0-3) also on Saturday.
