MPL PH: ONIC strikes back, pounds Omega to keep solo second

ONIC Philippines swiftly rebounded from a loss the day prior by venting their ire on Smart Omega, securing a 2-0 victory to notch their 8th win in Week 5 of the MPL Philippines Season 13 on Saturday at the Shooting Gallery Studios.

The Hedgehogs now boast 24 points, comprising eight wins against only two losses. The result keeps them in second place behind AP.Bren (8-1), who shares the same points total.

ONIC jungler King “K1NGKONG” Perez praised Omega’s draft in Game 2, which made it difficult for them to battle in the early game.

“Ang ganda kasi ng hero composition ng Omega. Nag-adjust kami sa kanila kasi ang ganda ng nabuo nilang line-up para samin. Yung ginawa namin, umiiwas kami sa kanila kasi yung mga nabuo nilang hero pambanggaan agad,” K1NGKONG explained on how they navigated through Omega’s early game aggression in Game 2.

Jomearie “Escalera” Santos (Arlott) once again played a crucial role in the opening game. His accurate Final Slash set-up plays paved the way for a decisive Game 1 victory.

He earned the game MVP recognition, thanks to a near-spotless 2-1-9 KDA.

In Game 2, ONIC had to rely on a cross-map play executed by K1NGKONG (Nolan) in the 23rd minute to force Omega’s formation to collapse and secure a 2-1 exchange while conceding the lord objective.

K1NGKONG once again executed a brilliant backline ambush in the midlane in the 24th minute, resulting in a 3-0 wipe and successfully sieging the base turret a minute later.

Omega has now suffered three consecutive losses and eight overall, remaining in seventh place with only four points to show.
