MPL PH: Edward leads Blacklist to brink of postseason in thrilling comeback vs ONIC

Blacklist International is now just one win away from cementing its place in the postseason after staging a comeback in a 2-1 reverse sweep against ONIC Philippines in the penultimate week of MPL Philippines Season 13 on Sunday at the Shooting Gallery Studios.

The Tier One-backed squad (5-7) raised their tally to 16 points and needs just one game win to secure their spot in the playoffs.

Blacklist head coach Kristoffer “BON CHAN” Ricaplaza expressed relief after the team managed not only to secure a much-needed win but also bounced back from a lopsided opening game loss.

“Sobrang saya namin kasi nabawian namin. Kasi nung unang pagtatapat namin medyo naging one-sided, yung second game nun yun yung dikit tapos nacomeback kami,” Bon Chan said.

“This time sobrang saya ng naging result kasi nareverse sweep namin. Nakareset kahit na sa first game eh sobrang durog. Nakareset sila nang mabuti kaya nangyari, sobrang ganda ng naging performance nila sa Game 2 at Game 3,” he added.

In Game 1, ONIC seized the lead early on thanks to Jomarie “Escalera” Santos’ (Grock) initiation but required 22 minutes before finally overcoming a resilient Blacklist side. Escalera claimed the game’s MVP title with a 0-1-13 KDA.

However, the tables turned in Game 2 as Edward “Edward” Dapadap (Benedetta) dominated the exp lane, guiding Blacklist to an 8-2 victory in kills during a 10-minute triumph, evening the series 1-1.

Edward maintained his urgency in Game 3 as his Cecilion finished with a commanding 6-0-6 KDA, sealing Blacklist’s comeback.

Blacklist will next square off against ECHO on Saturday, May 4.
