Royse Tubino and the rest of Choco Mucho powered through exhaustion to move closer to a return to the finals in the 2024 Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference.
Coming off a five-set outing against Creamline last Tuesday, Tubino said that the team was still feeling the effects of the grueling match.
Still, they were able to find enough energy to put away Chery Tiggo in straight sets on Thursday.
“Siguro ano, kasi pare-parehas na kaming pagod eh, so pinush talaga namin ‘yung sarili namin kasi andun na kami. So kailangan namin ibigay ‘yung best kaysa makuha pa nila ‘yung isang set so mas lalo kaming mapapagod – so kailangan naming i-push pa,” said the Army veteran.
Tubino previously played a pivotal role in their five-set conquest of the Cool Smashers. And she was the hero again with 17 points on 15 attacks and two blocks.
She finished four of the team’s last five points to seal the deal for the Flying Titans against the Crossovers.
The 31-year-old wing spiker once again expressed her gratitude to the coaching staff and her teammates for trusting her, especially with Kat Tolentino still out due to an auditory condition.
Tubino and Choco Mucho will take on Petro Gazz on Sunday as they try to clinch one of the two finals slots in the season-opening conference.
“More aggressive pa siguro kami. Kasi kanina slow start kami. Siguro ‘pag sa Petro Gazz, siguro may two days na training kami so kailangan pa naming [maging] more aggressive.”
