MPL PH: RSG eliminates TNC in dominant sweep

RSG Philippines moved closer to an upper bracket berth as they secured their seventh win in their last eight matches with a 2-0 sweep of TNC Pro Team in the penultimate week of the MPL Philippines Season 13 on Sunday at the Shooting Gallery Studios.

The MSC 2022 champions are currently in third place with 25 points, built around eight wins and four losses. They leapfrogged ONIC Philippines (8-3), who are at 24 points.

Despite the win, RSG head coach Brian “Panda” Lim expressed his dismay for the mistakes committed by his wards, especially in Game 1 where TNC took the lead in the early game.

“If we made those mistakes against Bren or Echo, ayun tapos na agad yung game. They won’t make those mistakes sa ganung teams but sa TNC they made that mistake,” he said.

“I don’t know if it’s complacency or less focused but it’s worth scolding when I get back to the bootcamp. Kaya hindi ako tuwang-tuwa sa panalo today kasi since last week pa, playoffs mode na kami,” Panda wondered.

In Game 1, RSG turned back a 3k deficit in the early game thanks to Arvie “Aqua” Calderon’s (Vexana) knock-up with the Cursed Oath that sparked a 3-0 wipe and secured the lord objective.

The Raiders continued to dominate the rest of the way, with Dylan “Light” Catipon (Franco) leading the charge to the opening victory. He finished with a 2-2-10 KDA to earn the MVP nod.

The Season 9 champions continued to dominate Game 2 to close out the series by the 15th minute.
