Phoenix assured that Yousef Taha is receiving the best possible care after he was rushed to the hospital during the team’s game against Converge at the Ynares Center in Antipolo on Saturday evening.
With 9:04 left in the game, the 6-foot-8 Filipino-Palestinian big man was subbed out and immediately headed to the dugout. Before his substitution, he was visibly struggling to catch his breath.
According to Fuel Masters team manager Paolo Bugia, Taha nearly fainted in the locker room and was quickly taken to Clinica Antipolo Hospital & Wellness Center.
Bugia added that Taha was immediately given IV fluids and rehydrated, as the initial diagnosis pointed to hypoglycemia.
The 37-year-old Mapua alumnus tallied three points and four rebounds in Phoenix’s 128-114 loss to Converge.
Taha joined the Fuel Masters in the offseason after being waived by the Abra Weavers.
