Pampanga banked on a third quarter storm to rally past Muntinlupa, 107-75, Saturday evening in the 2021 Chooks-to-Go NBL Chairman’s Cup at the Bren Z. Guiao Convention Center in San Fernando.
The Delta had a huge first half to go at the break already ahead by 12, 51-39.
But it was in the third frame where Pampanga just put the game away.
The Delta went on a scoring spree, notching 26 points to enter the final quarter ahead by 27, 77-50. This, while holding the Water Warriors to a drought of just 11 points.
Levi Hernandez could not be stopped even off the bench, firing 23 points, nine rebounds, and six assists.
Rhanzelle Yong delivered 20 points and 11 rebounds, while Encho Serrano produced 17 points, nine rebounds, and eight assists.
Mark Dyke also nabbed a double-double of 13 points and 12 rebounds in just 18 minutes of floor time.
Pampanga is now level with lone tormentor Bulacan DF for the second spot with identical 6-1 win-loss cards.
Biboy Enguio led the Water Warriors with 22 points, 11 rebounds, and three blocks.
However, Jed Mendoza was the missing piece with just 11 points on 4-of-17 shooting in 42 minutes as Muntinlupa fell to 4-2, still at fifth place.
