Yeng Guiao gathers Gilas Men’s troops before World Cup grind begins

Call it the calm before the storm.

Exactly 79 days before Gilas Pilipinas begins their campaign in the 2019 FIBA World Cup, head coach Yeng Guiao made sure to meet his players first.

The session was held inside the viewing room of the Meralco Gym in Pasig, Thursday evening.

Guiao was joined by team manager Gabby Cui and liaison officer Yvette Ruiz in the talk that lasted for almost an hour.

Ten players attended the meeting, namely Jayson Castro, June Mar Fajardo, Gabe Norwood, Mark Barroca, Troy Rosario, Roger Pogoy, Paul Lee, Marcio Lassiter, Poy Erram, and Raymond Almazan.

The likes of Japeth Aguilar, Thirdy Ravena, and Scotie Thompson were not on-hand.

Gilas Pilipinas is slotted in Group D for the global meet together with Serbia, Italy, and Angola.

The national team begins its practices on Monday, June 17.
