Wielin Estoque saved her best performance for Farm Fresh in their final game of the 2023 Premier Volleyball League Invitational Conference.
The standout player from the College of St. Benilde delivered an impressive performance, tallying 22 points with 18 attacks, three blocks, and a service ace. However, despite her efforts, it wasn’t enough for the team.
The Foxies experienced heartbreak as they squandered a two-set lead against Foton, eventually losing in a five-set thriller, with the scores 25-18, 25-23, 29-31, 20-25, 16-18 on Saturday at the Philsports Arena.
Although Farm Fresh failed to secure a victory in their five matches in Pool B, Estoque believes that the experience of facing some of the country’s top teams will undoubtedly benefit the Lady Blazers in their pursuit of a third consecutive championship in the NCAA.
The majority of the Foxies’ roster consists of current Benilde players, led by Gayle Pascual and Cloanne Mondonedo, while Mycah Go, who is recovering from an ACL injury, is also part of the team.
They were granted a “special guest license” by the Games and Amusements Board, allowing them to compete in the country’s first and only professional volleyball league.
“Sobrang laking opportunity po nito para may ma-learn kami since maglalaro pa po kami sa collegiate. Ang laking experience talaga na maibigay namin lahat and yung learnings namin dito,” said Estoque.
However, Estoque remains uncertain about whether the Lady Blazers will continue representing Farm Fresh in the next conference of the PVL, considering that the NCAA volleyball season is likely to take place in January 2024.
Aside from the Benilde players, the Foxies’ lineup also includes Trisha Tubu, Kate Santiago, Cae Lazo, Ckyle Tagsip, and Pia Ildefonso.
“Hindi ko pa po sure, depende po,” shared Estoque on their participation in the third conference of PVL this 2023 season.
