The 2022 Men’s Volleyball Nations League match between China and France scheduled on June 22 at the SMART Araneta Coliseum has been canceled.
As reported on the FIVB-based website Volleyball World, China confirmed that they could not field a team for the said match for medical reasons. The squad is unable to field six players due to health protocols related to COVID-19.
The federation and VW have therefore confirmed that the match is canceled and awarded the 3-0 win to France on forfeiture.
The statement also said, “The FIVB and Volleyball World apologize to the athletes and fans for any inconvenience caused by the cancellation As always, the primary concern of the FIVB and Volleyball World is protecting the health and wellbeing of our athletes, officials, and fans.”
The other matches of the Chinese men’s national team will push through as scheduled for now as the VNL Quezon City leg for the men’s side starts on Tuesday with the 3 p.m. clash of European teams Slovenia and Netherlands, followed by the 7 p.m. battle between Olympic bronze medalist Argentina and fan-favorite Japan.
