Every individual can make a meaningful impact on the environment through simple, everyday choices. From reducing food waste and conserving household energy to minimizing single-use plastics and reusing containers, small collective actions can significantly lower carbon footprints and help preserve the planet’s resources.
With this in mind, the fifth edition of the Vermosa Green Run, set for June 28, 2026, aims to raise awareness about ecosystem conservation, promote active lifestyles and sports development, and support animal welfare—an essential pillar of sustainability.
Lani Tan, General Manager of Ayala Vermosa Sports Hub and an athlete herself, said this year’s Green Run encourages participants to become more conscious of the role they play in protecting the environment. The event seeks to demonstrate that sustainable living begins with simple habits that can easily be integrated into training and race-day routines.
“Using reusable hydration bottles or collapsible cups, properly segregating waste, picking up litter along the route or whenever possible, and using designated disposal areas are simple habits that can easily be incorporated into training and race-day routines,” she said.
As part of the initiative, Green Run participants are encouraged to donate used plastic bottles in exchange for race perks, including a ₱100 registration discount. The collected bottles will be recycled into eco-bricks, which will be used as construction materials for future Ayala Land projects.
This year’s race singlets, finisher shirts, and dog bandanas are also made from recycled PET bottles, highlighting how discarded plastics can be transformed into high-quality products that support active lifestyles.
“Wearing planet-friendly gear on race day is a shared badge of honor that shows we are actively investing in the preservation of the environment that sustains our active lifestyles,” Tan said.
For Tan, the true success of the Green Run will be measured not by the number of participants but by the lasting habits they adopt long after crossing the finish line.
“As we celebrate our fifth year, we hope to inspire a permanent shift toward mindful consumption and conscious living. Crossing the finish line should be the start of a lifelong habit of waste reduction, active recycling, and respecting outdoor spaces. We want our runners to carry this sustainable mindset back to their respective neighborhoods, workplaces, and every future race track they conquer,” she said.
Green Run 2026 will take place at the lush and sprawling Vermosa Estate in Imus, Cavite, featuring 3K, 5K, 10K, and 21K race categories, along with a 1K Dog Run designed to welcome participants of all fitness levels and running goals.
More than just a race, the event serves as a reminder that building a healthier planet does not always require grand gestures. Sometimes, meaningful change begins with choosing to go greener—one step at a time, Tan added.
Green Run 2026 supports the Haribon Foundation, Takbo Kabitenyo, and Pawssion Project. The event is also backed by Oishi, Merrell, Pocari, Salonpas, Booster C, Fitbar, Gatsby, Milo, Apex, Topbreed, Dunsk Kuhner, Baby Boo, Chef Special, Entrée Gourmet Pet Treats, Saint Roche, The Gourmet Specialist, Zert, and Wonderpaw.
