Reigning NCAA Best Setter Venice Puzon is determined to lead Lyceum of the Philippines University to the NCAA Season 98 Women’s Volleyball Tournament Final Four.
After coming off short of a playoff spot last season, Puzon and the Lady Pirates have been having one of the best starts in the tournament with an undefeated record in three games.
Puzon admitted that their current run is a reflection of their frustration from the previous season where they missed the Final Four after coming off a win short for a chance for the spot.
“Yung experience namin last season na andon na kami, malapit na kami then di pa din napunta sa amin,” she said.
“Siguro yung fire, na kagustuhan namin makapasok napapakita namin ngayon.”
The third-year playmaker was a crucial part of their latest victory against Jose Rizal University, where she tossed 15 excellent sets with two points. Her performance then helped her team secure the 22-25, 25-17, 25-22, 25-17 win.
Despite being one of the underdogs this season, Puzon and her team believe that they are capable of making it to the Final Four.
“Naniniwala lang po kami. Naniniwala lang kami na kaya naming makapasok kahit na kaya namin na may mas better, may mas malakas,” she said.
“Nainiwala kami sa mga sarili namin saka sa team na this time kami naman yung lalaban at kami naman yung papasok sa Final Four.”
With their unwavering belief and determination, Lyceum has a strong chance of securing a spot in the NCAA Final Four this season. Puzon and her team are ready to fight and prove that they deserve to be one of the top teams in the league.
