Vanessa De Jesus pumps three treys, but Duke falls to rival North Carolina

Vanessa De Jesus and Duke suffered a tough 62-78 loss by archrival North Carolina in ACC action, Friday morning (Manila time) at Cameron Indoor Stadium in Durham, North Carolina.

Keeping pace with the Tar Heels in the opening frame, the Blue Devils offense stagnated in the second stanza. They put up just eight points while allowing 28, falling behind big entering the second half.

De Jesus got going in the third, scoring six points, while remaining perfect from the floor. But the rest of the squad continued their struggles.

Though Miela Goodchild netted 13 points in the fourth, the North Carolina lead was just too much to overcome.

Alyssa Ustby led North Carolina (16-3, 6-3 ACC) with 20 points.

Duke, who fell to 13-5 overall and 4-4 in the conference was led by the 14 points each of Goodchild and Elizabeth Balogun. Shayeann Day-Wilson and De Jesus chipped in 10 and eight points, respectively.

Duke will next face Louisville on Monday.
