Valandre Chauca joins Adamson for one-and-done season

Adamson will have a formidable backcourt come the UAAP Season 82 Men’s Basketball Tournament.

In a coup, the Soaring Falcons will invoke the ‘Troy Rike-rule’ on former Enderun Titans guard Valandre Chauca.

The development was confirmed to Tiebreaker Times by Adamson head coach Franz Pumaren.

In his one year in Enderun, Chauca, who stands at 5-foot-10 and plays both guard positions, has proven to be one of the most lethal scorers in the amateur ranks.

Chauca, who enrolled in Enderun’s Business Administration major in Marketing Management course, led the Titans to its first-ever Finals appearance in NAASCU, only succumbing to eventual-champions St. Clare Saints in the Finals.

Then in the D-League, the 24-year-old posted norms of 24.14 points on 44-percent shooting from distance, 5.28 assists, and 4.57 rebounds for the FamilyMart squad — including a 27-point outing against Ateneo back in February 25.

Prior to this, Chauca played with Div I school UC Berkeley, graduating with a degree in Legal Studies.

At least six MPBL teams offered Chauca to join their team but he opted to enroll in a master’s program in Adamson.

With Chauca and incoming senior Jerrick Ahanmisi in the fold, Adamson will boast one of the top backcourts in the league this upcoming season.
