UST to face Ateneo without Haydee Ong

University of Santo Tomas will enter their matchup against Ateneo de Manila University on Saturday, November 15, at the Smart Araneta Coliseum without head coach Haydee Ong, who has been handed a one-game suspension.

Ong’s suspension comes after accumulating two technical fouls in UAAP Season 88 Collegiate Women’s Basketball Tournament.

Her most recent technical foul occurred during UST’s clash with the University of the East, when she was penalized at the 1:39 mark of the first quarter for continuously challenging a call despite warnings from the referees.

The technical foul, assessed in line with FIBA Rule 36.2, cited her repeated unsportsmanlike conduct toward the officiating crew.

The first technical foul was issued on October 11, 2025, during UST’s elimination-round game against Ateneo. That prompted the UAAP Basketball Commissioners’ Office to issue a formal letter reminding Ong of proper conduct toward officials.

Stepping in for Ong will be Ged Austria, who will assume head coaching duties for the Tigresses against the Blue Eagles.

UST enters the game with a perfect 11-0 record, having already secured a Final Four berth in the tournament.

UST may still appeal the suspension.
