UP-DLSU Game 3 sets UAAP basketball attendance record


It took two storied schools to break a nine-year record for UAAP Basketball.

The winner-take-all game between University of the Philippines and De La Salle University drew a record 25,192 fans inside the historic SMART Araneta Coliseum on Wednesday evening.

It broke the record set by the rubber match between National University and Far Eastern University during UAAP Season 77 (2014-15).

Game 1 which took place at the SM Mall of Asia Arena last November 30 had a mammoth crowd of 17,129 paid attendance.

Game 2 last Sunday was played in front of  20,863 fans at the Big Dome.

UP drew first blood in the series in a lopsided affair, 97-67, before La Salle came roaring back with an 82-60 triumph.

It has been an epic week for the UAAP as the 2023 Cheerdance Competition at MOA Arena also gathered 18,122 spectactors.

The league record was set during the 2015 Cheerdance Competition which drew 25,388 fans.
