UE lets go of Charcos, De Leon

The University of the East continue with their revamp

After Bonbon Batiller was dropped from the Red Warriors’ pool early this month, two more student-athletes have been released by the school. Edgar Charcos and RR De Leon have both been let go by the school, according to head coach Derrick Pumaren.

Though no reason was given by the incoming-fourth year head coach, a source closely monitoring the situation has told Tiebreaker Times that the reason is due to the two failing to meet the school’s academic requirements.

The 6-foot-6 De Leon was supposed to play his final year with the Red Warriors in Season 79. The 23-year-old averaged 4.3 points and 2.7 rebounds a season ago. And he might have played his final collegiate game last year, as he is set to turn 25 two years from now.

Charcos, on the other hand, has played three years with UE. The 5-foot-8 guard played his best season during his sophomore year, posting norms of 6.3 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 2.8 assists. However, his averages dropped in his third year.

With Paul Varilla graduating and losing three more players in the off-season, expect coach Derrick Pumaren to bring in some new faces to the line-up for Season 80.
