UB retains UCAL esports crown

University of Batangas capped off its stellar campaign in the PGFLEX Linoleum presents UCAL Season 7 by successfully defending its esports title, held recently at the Smart Omega Bootcamp in Marikina City.

Led by Dominic “Lord Adobo” Perez Lee and Carlos “Noxious” Bagon, the Brahmans proved too dominant as they swept the Philippine Christian University-Dasmarinas Dolphins in two straight games during their best-of-three championship series.

Joining them in the championship lineup were Earl “Zeytitri” Hernandez, Angelo “Mir4cle” Panganiban, Jovan “Koku” Almario, and Joven “Jovs” Apostol.

The Esports title marked UB’s third championship in the five-sport UCAL league, having earlier clinched the 3×3 basketball and men’s volleyball crowns.

UB finished the elimination round as the second seed with 15 points, just one point shy of top-seeded Philippine Christian University-Dasmariñas, which earned 16. ICC landed in third with 13 points, followed by Philippine Women’s University with seven.

The Brahmans punched their ticket to the finals after sweeping PCU-Dasmariñas in their best-of-five semifinal series. On the other side, the Bluehawks advanced after eliminating the PWU Patriots.

UB also posted a runner-up finish in women’s volleyball, falling short against eventual champions Immaculada Concepcion College.
