UAAP shifts Finals opener to May 2

Due to the ASEAN Summit, the UAAP board has moved the opening of the highly-anticipated Game One of the Women’s Volleyball Finals to Tuesday, May 2, at the SMART-Araneta Coliseum.

The series was initially set to begin this Saturday, April 22, at the SM Mall of Asia Arena.

Road closures during the date factored in the decision to move Game One.

This season’s Finals features arch-rivals Ateneo de Manila University Lady Eagles and De La Salle University Lady Spikers for the six straight season. La Salle have won three of the past five season’s titles, but Ateneo have swept this season’s series.

The Men’s Volleyball Finals will also begin on May 2, with defending champions Ateneo de Manila University Blue Eagles taking on the winners of the National University Bulldogs–Far Eastern University Tamaraws tiff, which happens tomorrow, April 26, at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan City.

The Blue Eagles are gunning for their third straight crown.

Game Two is slated to take place on Saturday, May 6, while the winner-take-all bout (if necessary) is scheduled to take place on Saturday, May 10.
