UST, FEU clinch Final Four berths

Defending champions University of Santo Tomas Golden Tigresses and last season’s silver medalists Far Eastern University Lady Tamaraws continued its dominant run in the UAAP Season 80 Women’s Beach Volleyball Tournament, bagging two wins each to clinch Final Four berths, Saturday evening at the SM Sands by the Bay in Pasay City.UAAP-80-Womens-Beach-Volleyball-UST-def-DLSU-Rondina-2 UST, FEU clinch Final Four berths ADMU AdU Beach Volleyball DLSU FEU News NU UAAP UE UP UST - philippine sports news

The UST tandem of Cherry Rondina and Caitlyn Viray made quick work of the UP Lady Maroons early in the day, taking a 21-7, 21-15. They then followed it up with an equally dominant 21-9, 21-14 victory over the Adamson Lady Falcons.

Bernadeth Pons and Kyla Atienza, who played their games after UST in both ties, scored impressive wins as well. The FEU duo lambasted Adamson 21-12, 21-14 to open their day while whitewashing the UE Lady Warriors 21-10, 21-9.

Both teams are now sporting identical 5-0 slates.

DLSU Lady Spikers pair of Tin Tiamzon and May Luna were able to squeak out twin victories as well.

After scoring a sweep of the UE Lady Warriors, Tiamzon and Luna needed to dig deep against the NU Lady Bulldogs’ Roma Doromal and Audrey Paran, who scored their first win of the day earlier against Ateneo.

The two teams figured in a nip-and-tuck contest that extended to a third and deciding set. However, with NU up 14-12, Doromal cramped up. She was able to push on after a five-minute break as coach Babes Castillo decided to only field in two Lady Bulldogs in the tournament. Luna and Tiamzon targeted her afterwards resulting to a 17-21, 21-19, 20-18 win.
