Green Spikers snap two-game skid, keep Red Warriors winless

The De La Salle University Green Spikers kicked out of their two-game losing funk, ousting the hapless University of the East Red Warriors, 25-14, 25-20, 19-25, 25-21, at the FilOil Flying V Centre.

Raymark Woo, who was recruited by current UE and former La Salle coach Sammy Acaylar, poured in 24 points, while his fellow open hitter Arjay Onia added 19 markers.

The Cagayan De Oro-native Woo said he was happy to have finally led his squad to a win after a tough stretch of matches.

“Masaya kami na nakapanalo kami kasi mahirap kapag nagsunod-sunod kami ng talo. Ang goal kasi is makapasok sa Final Four this year,” said Woo, who is playing in his final year.

Team caprain Geric Ortega and Clifford Inoferio topped the Red Warriors with 14 points apiece. Noel Alba added 12 markers.

The Green Spikers (2-3) have a pivotal match on Saturday when they face the feisty Adamson University Soaring Falcons (1-4) on Saturday at the FilOil Flying V Centre. The Red Warriors (0-5) try to end the Far Eastern University Tamaraws’ (4-0) unbeaten start also on Saturday.
