It’s been a season like no other.
Despite a compressed schedule and early end to its season, ABS-CBN S+A will still give a rightful send-off for UAAP Season 82 with a closing ceremony like never before.
On Saturday, July 25, the special online event will be held at 4:00pm over at the Facebook and YouTube accounts of ABS-CBN Sports.
“We did not like what happened, because hindi natapos ‘yung sport, but we all know naman na this is bigger than sports,” said outgoing UAAP President Em Fernandez.
“Lalabas ‘yun doon sa closing ceremonies, just to highlight na, one, as a community, as a nation, we are here to help everyone, that’s one. And two, itong mga atleta na ‘to na mga hindi nakapaglaro or natapos, they are part of Season 82.”
Last April 7, the league was forced to end its season due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
Cancelled or abandoned events included volleyball, football, baseball, softball, athletics, lawn tennis, and 3×3 basketball.
The student-athletes from these events will be honored as well.
Highlight of the event will be the crowning of University of Santo Tomas as double general champions.
Performing in the event are Sponge Cola, Itchyworms, Ylona Garcia, and Iñigo Pascual.
