UAAP Football Commissioner launches investigation into FEU-D vs UST post-game melee

UAAP Season 86 Football Tournament Commissioner Rely San Agustin disclosed that a verdict is pending regarding the post-game altercation that transpired during the High School Boys’ Final on February 29, 2024, at the UP Diliman Football Stadium.

Recapping the events that unfolded after Far Eastern University’s decisive 3-0 triumph over University of Santo Tomas, the aftermath was marred by a series of incidents that took center stage.

Following the final whistle, a video captured Baby Tamaraws defender Bryan Villanueva making his way to the Junior Golden Booters’ bench.

Villanueva, in an act of taunting, positioned himself in front of the UST crowd and team, placing his hands on his ears and urging them forward.

In response to this provocation, substitute UST goalkeeper Ben Sabuga swiftly traversed the pitch, launching punches at Villanueva, sparking a brief scuffle between the two.

At present, the league is diligently gathering perspectives from all involved parties to address and resolve this regrettable incident.

Commissioner San Agustin stated, “We have requested statements from each individual involved in the incident. Once complete, I will present all evidence to the UAAP Disciplinary Committee for review and deliberation. This process may extend up to a maximum of two weeks.”

The football community eagerly awaits the committee’s decision on the matter.
