This week has been really good for Paul Lee.
Last Monday, blessings rained down on the Magnolia combo guard as he became a father to a baby girl, and at the same time earned an assurance that he’ll stay long with the Hotshots big thanks to a fresh three-year deal.
And on Wednesday night at the Cuneta Astrodome in Pasay City, Lee pumped 19 points, five rebounds, and four assists to lead the locals’ charge in the Hotshots’ 133-99 demolition of Henry Walker and the Blackwater Elite.
“First baby and then I got renewed sa team so wala nang iba pang, alam mo yun, yung feeling sobrang saya,” Lee said.
“Dagdag inspirasyon for me to work hard kasi lahat na ng ginagawa ko is for my baby and for my family.”
Lee admitted that he actually had no idea at all that the birth of his baby and his contract signing will happen at the very same day. So when it did take place, everything felt so sweet for the seven-year league veteran.
“‘Di ko lang alam na magsisign ako that day. Nagkasabay lang. Actually, pagka-sign ko, umalis kagad ako na wala na sa isip na nag-sign ako that day,” recalled Lee, who’s currently in his second season with the Hotshots.
“Tapos nung nagsend sa akin yung picture, naalala ko na, ‘Uy, nagsign pala ako kaninang umaga’ so yun.”
Surely, Lee’s lifestyle would see changes as parenthood is a whole different stage. But the University of the East product has no qualms with it whatsoever.
“Okay lang. Ayun nga sabi ko I’ll do everything for my baby so okay lang yun kung magpupuyat ako. Part yun ng pagiging magulang.”
