Bianca Pagdanganan fumbled through the backside and ended with a sorry 5-over 77 for the day to go to outside the cut line of the 2021 LPGA Meijer Classic at the Blythefield Country Club in Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA, Friday.
After a rather composed day on Thursday that ended at 2-under 70, the tour rookie suddenly encountered roadblocks at the very start of the day’s round.
Pagdanganan then needed extra hits on both the Nos. 10 and 11 after a birdie to open the day at the backside.
Two more bogeys in the 14th and 16th pushed her back to over par, before a birdie at No. 18 rescued her back to even at the turn.
That should have served as a warning for the 23-year-old. She had a hard time navigating the front side of the course the previous day, with a bogey in the fifth and pars along the way.
Pagdanganan badly missed on the very first hole after returning from the clubhouse, needing two more shots in that par-4 hole. Two more bogeys eventually sealed her doom, before she fired off back-to-back birdies to salvage her final score.
Clariss Guce, who was tied with Pagdanganan the previous day, also missed the cut. She went 2-over 74 for the day to end at even 144 in total.
A double-bogey in No, 12 and a bogey in No.14 dictated her fate. A birdie in the eighth hole only just negated that latter mistake.
Dottie Ardina rounded up the Filipinos in the tournament, finishing with 3-over 75 for the day and 2-over 146 in total.
With the results, Guce entered the Race to CME Globe Championship at a tie of 171st place. Meanwhile, Ardina and Pagdanganan slipped two notches to 133 and 135, respectively.
