TNT’s Vosotros, De Leon, Flores lead Gilas team to FIBA 3×3 Asia Cup

The Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas has trimmed down the Gilas Pilipinas Men’s 3×3 pool down to six players.

After the team’s tryouts early this week, the federation named six players to the final team that will head to Singapore for the 2022 FIBA 3×3 Asia Cup.

The players are TNT’s Almond Vosotros, Samboy de Leon, and Lervin Flores; Purefoods’ Joesph Eriobu; Limitless’ Jorey Napoles; and Pioneer’s Christian Rivera.

The team was selected by the screening committee composed of Pioneer’s Lester Del Rosario, TNT’s Mau Belen, Meralco’s Patrick Fran, and Limitless’ Willy Wilson.

The trio of Vostros, De Leon, and Flores has led the Tropang Giga to four leg championships in Level Four PBA 3×3.

Vosotros is the highest-ranked among the team at 10th with 15,951 points. The 5-foot-10 guard won two conference scoring champion awards.

De Leon stands at 6-foot-3 and is 11th in the country with 14,838 points while 6-foot-5 Flores is 12th with 14,823.

Eriobu, meanwhile, is a 6-foot-4 sweet-shooting bruiser who led Purefoods to the league’s first conference’s fourth leg. He is ranked 13th with 14,649 points.

Napoles was part of the Gilas 3×3 team that settled for bronze in Hanoi last month. The 18th-ranked Filipino in the sport (13,837) helped Limitless win the first conference’s grand finals

Finally, Rivera is a 6-foot-2 guard who powered Pioneer to an unlikely grand finals championship during the second conference. He is ranked 35 with 9,316 points.

Four players will compose the team while two will be reserves.

Others who took part in the tryout were Bolts big man Alfred Batino and forward Tonino Gonzaga; Appmasters playmaker Reymar Caduyac; San Miguel’s Jeff Manday; Ginebra’s Leo De Vera; Gian Abrigo of Pioneer; Chris De Chavez of Platinum Karaoke; Tender Juicy Titans’ Jed Mendoza; and Limitless’ new guy Simon Camacho.
