Tin Ubaldo and the Far Eastern University Lady Tamaraws are raring to take the stage in the 2024 V-League Women’s Collegiate Challenge Finals after a confidence-building win over University of the East in the semifinals.
The Lady Tamaraws, who had a roller-coaster campaign in the eliminations, swept the Lady Red Warriors in the semifinals after a 25-21, 25-15, 25-20 win in Game 1 and a 25-20, 25-19, 25-2 victory in Game 2 last Sunday.
“Morale booster siya eh. Kasi ‘yung foundation, parang maganda siyang stepping stone pataas,” said team captain after their Finals-clinching win.
FEU is looking to take another crack at the title after losing via sweep in the best-of-three finale last year against College of St. Benilde.
“Sobrang excited namin na lumaban sa finals kasi nga last year, na-sweep kami. Pero ngayon ta-try talaga namin ‘yung best namin makuha ‘yung championship,” said Ubaldo.
Standing in their way this time in the quest for the V-League crown is UAAP rival University of Santo Tomas, who has yet to drop a game in this tournament.
Ubaldo is confident that the team can finally get this one after seeing how the Lady Tamaraws swiftly adapted to several challenges from the elimination round to the semifinals.
“Masaya, though maraming lapses pero mabilis naming nagagawan ng paraan. Parang lahat ng errors, lahat ng miscues, mabilis namin siyang nata-translate sa points kaya happy kami kasi na-work out namin ‘yung things na kailangan namin i-work out nang mabilis,” said Ubaldo.
The much-anticipated clash between FEU and UST will be on Sunday, 3:00 p.m. at the Philsports Arena.
