Indonesia will bank on familiarity as it looks to sustain momentum in the 2021 FIBA Asia Cup Qualifiers’ third window in Clark, Pampanga next week.
The Indonesia Basketball Association (PERBASI) on Friday unveiled Timnas’ 12-man lineup for the June 16-20 event, and it features practically the same players that gave the ASEAN contenders their first ACQ win last November.
Indonesia, who is coached by Rajko Toroman, was 0-2 before its masterful 90-76 drubbing of regional rival Thailand in the last window held in a bubble at Manama, Bahrain.
Naturalized player Lester Prosper spearheads the cast. The 6-foot-10 slotman made his national team debut versus Thailand, and was a major reason behind the rousing win with 19 points, 13 rebounds, and two steals.
Also returning are Arki Wisnu, Abraham Grahita, Andakara Prastawa, Hardianus Lakudu, Juan Laurent Kokodiputra, Kevin Sitorus, Vincent Kosasih, Govinda Saputra, Agassi Goantara, and Widyanta Teja.
Muhamad Ahgiri, who was part of the team in the first window back in February 2020, will make his return in lieu of Brandon Jawato.
The Indo-American cager will miss the third window as he continues to recover from the surgery he underwent last April. He was the top performer against the Thais as he produced 22 markers, eight boards, and eight assists.
Indonesia will play three games in the Qualifiers.
It faces Korea on the 17th before taking on the Filipino dribblers the following day, and will then cap off its campaign with a showdown against Thailand on the 20th.
