For the second straight night, Terrence Romeo was clad in his practice gear. But the 25-year-old has yet to see action in SMART Gilas Pilipinas’ practices as he remained inactive, Wednesday night at the Meralco Gym in Pasig City.
Romeo not being able to play and participate even in light drills only solidifies the statements of various sources to Tiebreaker Times that the prolific scorer is going through problems with his right knee.
Joining the GlobalPort Batang Pier star in watching their teammates was Japeth Aguilar. But unlike Romeo, the six-foot-nine center from Ginebra was in street clothes, still recovering from a minor dental procedure but minus the mask.
A total of 13 players suited up for Wednesday’s evening preps, still anchored by veterans Jayson Castro, Gabe Norwood, June Mar Fajardo, Calvin Abueva, Troy Rosario, Allein Maliksi, and Raymond Almazan.
The veterans were joined by Cadets Kiefer Ravena, Mac Belo, Roger Pogoy, Carl Bryan Cruz, Matthew Wright, and Kevin Alas. All the young guns have been a consistent fixtures in practices, even in the team’s morning sessions.
Gilas will head into a one-day break tomorrow, Thursday, to rest their bodies after going through three straight days of two practices a day.
