Another PBA pro has been caught playing in an unsanctioned league.
Joseph Gabayni has been fined and suspended by Terrafirma after the team received and confirmed reports that the big man played in a ‘ligang labas’ game last weekend.
The Dyip’s brass, headed by governor Bobby Rosales, have decided to impose team sanctions on Gabayni, including deducting two weeks’ worth of his salary.
“Yung Terrafirma, through vice chairman Bobby Rosales, ang nag-report sa amin na naglaro sa ligang labas si Joseph,” league commissioner Willie Marcial told Tiebreaker Times.
The 6-foot-5 Gabayni did not play during Terrafirma’s 117-124 loss to Northport last Saturday at the SMART Araneta Coliseum.
The next day, the 27-year-old out of Lyceum figured in a one-day league in Tanay, Rizal.
Gabayni has played six games for Terrafirma in the ongoing Governors’ Cup, averaging 2.2 points and 2.7 rebounds.
He will miss the Dyip’s game against the TNT Tropang Giga tomorrow at 3:00 PM.
The commissioner’s office is also set to summon Gabayni for breaking the league’s health and safety protocols.
