Caelan Tiongson’s herculean outing went for naught as Taoyuan fell to Tainan TSG, 83-114, in the 2021-22 T1 League season, Sunday at Zhongyuan University Gymnasium.
Despite being foul-plagued all game long, Tiongson had 26 points, 11 rebounds, three assists, and a steal in 35 minutes of action.
Still, it was not enough as the Leopards fell to 1-4 in the standings.
A slow start doomed Taoyuan, putting up just 13 points while allowing the Ghosthawks to put up 36 points in the opening frame.
Tainan would maintain a double-digit lead the rest of the way.
The Ghosthawks shot a whopping 57.4 percent from the field, knocking down 12 triples in the game. On the other hand, the Leopards shot just 39.1 percent.
Tainan, who went up to 2-3, had three players score 20 or more points in the contest.
Jordan Chatman led the way with 26 points built on seven triples. Naturalized Taiwanese player Will Artino tallied 25 points and 15 rebounds while Charles Garcia added 24 points and 12 rebounds.
Cheng Wei chipped in 15 points for Taoyuan while Aleksandar Mitrović and Lo Chengfeng got 13 and 11 points, respectively.
Tiongson and Taoyuan will face the same team again on January 1.
